A documentary presenting a range of indigenous values and practices from around the world, suggesting a heightened awareness, spiritual harmony, and a life in balance with nature.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Brian Keane, co-founder and director of Land is Life, an international network of indigenous communities and organizations, who is also featured in the documentary. Keane has recently returned from a 3 week trip to the Climate Summit in Copenhagen, where he brought native leaders from many countries to the talks in order to promote their unique insights and agendas.
From the organizers:"Attendees to the event can expect an evening of enlightening film and a lively, informed discussion on a critical and important topic."
"Earth Wisdom" was produced by LINK Media, a nonprofit television broadcaster, as part of its new Global Spirit series available on DIRECT-TV and over the internet via www.linktv.org/globalspirit
Host Phil Cousineau and the Global Spirit crew went to New York City in 2008 to film and interview renowned U.S. and international indigenous leaders and tribal representatives, joined by 2,000 others at a unique gathering of indigenous peoples from around the world at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
Brian Keane has been active for 20 years in efforts to promote and protect the land and human rights of indigenous peoples. Saratoga Springs resident Joseph Kulin, associate producer of "Earth Wisdom," will also be present. A variety of hand-made indigenous crafts from around the world brought by Keane will be available for purchase.
